Shester Sullivan sued his ex-employer, the City of Satsuma, after claiming he suffered a permanent total disability from a job-related knee injury. Sullivan also filed for retaliation discharge and for violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). He later settled both non-compensation claims, but his workers' comp claim was dismissed, with the court ruling his injury was not work-related nor had caused a disability.
Sullivan appealed, solely claiming the trial judgment lacked necessities per Alabama code. Surveillance footage was used to discredit Sullivan's claims about his physical limitations. The court determined there was no requirement to cite act sections when denying a claim and there were sufficient factual findings to support its conclusion. Sullivan presented no other appeal arguments, and the trial court's decision was affirmed.
