Marengo County is a county located in the west-central part of Alabama. As of the 2010 census, the population of the county was 21,027. The county seat is Linden.
Marengo County was established on December 26, 1818, from parts of Greene and Tuscaloosa counties. It was named for the Battle of Marengo, which was fought in Italy during the Napoleonic Wars.
Marengo County is located in the Black Belt region of Alabama, and is known for its rich agricultural heritage. The county is home to several large farms, including the McCall Farms and the Varden Farms. These farms produce a variety of crops, including cotton, corn, and soybeans.
