Elmore County is a county located in the central part of Alabama. As of the 2010 census, the population of the county was 79,303. The county seat is Wetumpka.
Elmore County was established on February 15, 1866, from parts of Autauga, Coosa, and Tallapoosa counties. It was named for General John A. Elmore, a Confederate States Army officer who was killed in the Civil War.
